Clean Footprint is excited to introduce our new Solar Site Lease program for Massachusetts business and commercial property owners! We would like to pay you cash for your unused rooftops or ground area allowing us to provide clean, renewable electricity in your surrounding community while generating a profit for you. This week, we will focus on the Solar Site Lease program for ground area.

 

What is a ground solar site lease and how does it differ from the roof site lease?

          With a ground site lease, we pay you to lease your unused ground space. Unused ground space can be anything from old parking lots and cleared areas to landfills or brownfields (an already developed site where future development could be complicated by hazardous contaminants in the ground). At Clean Footprint, we use this vacant land to install solar photovoltaic (PV) panels. These panels allow us to produce clean electricity that we then sell to members of the surrounding community. All you need to do is lease us the space and Clean Footprint will take care of the rest. The ground lease is very similar to the roof lease, but a typical ground solar array is much larger than a roof array. This allows more electricity to be generated, benefiting your community, as well as more money in your pocket.

 

Why is this a good option for me?

          Just as with our roof lease, Clean Footprint will pay you a large cash bonus up front for allowing us to lease your ground space. We will also make quarterly lease payments for the duration of the lease, generally between twenty and twenty-five years in length. Upon termination of your lease, Clean Footprint will remove the solar array at no cost to you. We are simply taking unused property and creating a revenue-generating asset. In addition to the financial benefits, the Solar Site Lease program offers numerous environmental benefits. By incorporating solar panels within your property, you are showing the community you have a commitment to Earth and its environment. Depending on your company, you may even see an increase in traffic at your location if customers can see that you have taken a step towards ameliorating the environment. Even though you may not consume the solar electricity generated by the array, its presence at your place of business remains a visual reminder to both your customers and employees of your environmental commitment.

 

How does it work?

          Once you have signed the lease, we will install solar panels directly on your property. Typically these arrays are ballasted (secured with concrete blocks) on top of the ground, but we will look at your property on an individual basis to see what works best for your site. Once the array is installed, it is connected to the utility grid and the electricity generated by the array is used elsewhere in the community. Clean Footprint designs, installs, owns, operates, maintains, and removes the array and covers all costs associated therein. We do it all - you simply sit back, relax, and collect your rent money. You can also rest easy knowing that Clean Footprint insures each array just in case the unexpected happens, making this a risk free way to generate some extra revenue!

 

Am I the ideal candidate?

          The ideal candidate for our Solar Site Lease program for ground-mounted solar has ground space that is large and flat with few to no obstructions and no shading. This is the best-case scenario for maximum lease payments and solar electricity production. We understand that this exact ground area scenario is rarely the case, so don’t be discouraged if you don’t meet some or even most of the criteria. If your ground is hilly, cluttered with trees or already paved over, don’t worry. We will look at your ground area, evaluate it, and see how we can proceed in such a way that maximizes your benefits.
